The CBSO is a network that gather together around 20 research laboratories and industries in France, sharing a common topic: biocatalysis, i. e. the use of biological catalysts for the synthesis of high value chemical compounds. At the interface between eco-friendly chemistry and biology, it is an interdisciplinary field, that can only progress through exchanges between scientists with complementary expertises.

To allow these exchanges, the network organizes every two years a symposium gathering around 100 academic and industrial attendants. Various themes are discussed, like the use of industrial enzymes, enzymatic activities screening, new biocatalysts development, the use of enzymatic reactors, cascade enzymatic reactions, supported enzymes or synthetic biology.
